What People are Saying

"Susan DeFace Washington is the real deal. She is one of the most powerful, heartwarming, spirit filled speakers we have been blessed to hear. Women of all ages were  blessed by her testimony and her message of hope, forgiveness and God's redeeming love for all people no matter the circumstances in your past or present situation.  We have had many speakers for our Women's Events at First Baptist Church Carrollton and  I can honestly say Susan ranks as one of the most outstanding speakers we have had."

- Beverly Anderson, Women's Ministry Coorinator for First Baptist Church of Carrollton

"I have practiced criminal law for over twenty years, as both a prosecutor and defense attorney, and I have witnessed up-close the devastating consequences of drug addiction. Prison has a way of getting your attention, and yet, I have seen many disingenuous and counterfeit “jailhouse conversions” in desperate attempts to game the system and receive leniency. I can assure you, there is nothing fake or phony about Susan and her relationship with, and devotion to, Jesus Christ.

Through faith and perseverance, she has found transforming freedom and undeniable peace and purpose. Susan is the real deal and she possesses a compelling life story and inspiring testimony of God’s unconditional love, saving grace and redemptive power."

- Joe Shearin, Criminal Defense Attorney

We recently had Susan DeFace Washington come and speak at our monthly ladies group at our church. After speaking with Susan to learn more about her story, I couldn’t wait to have her present to our ladies.

When the day finally came, Susan brought her support team, Power Point, and an infectious spirit. Susan was very open and willing to share her story. Her transparency gave us a glimpse into her world that began with pain, lies, and sadness but ends in the victory and joy that can only come from having a relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Her story communicated so many things in such a short time. Her story communicates the power of hope, forgiveness, and how nothing we can do will separate us from the love of Jesus.

I first met Susan in elementary school second or third grade. We were in Girl Scouts together where her mother, Rosemary and Betty Davis were our fearless leaders. Oh, the fun we had and the campouts were spectacular! Susan also had a talent for gymnastics and went on to be a Cheerleader in Junior High School as well as High School. She was very popular and well liked. She is such an inspiration to me and I cherish her friendship. She walks with the Lord and is sowing God's seed and we are so blessed. So proud of you Susan!!

Susan and I reconnected on facebook last year after I wanted to write a blog on her amazing story for the Dallas Morning News. Ever since, Susan and I have developed a strong bond and feel we are kindred spirits. Susan's story is one of not only survival but of hope and faith in God. Since I am a guest writer for the Dallas Morning News, I am going to tell her story in January. I'll send out the post when it comes out. I cannot wait to read her book, From Pompoms to Prison. I have read her manuscript and Tammy Wiliams and I both agree- you cannot put it down. Your heart goes out to her and breaks until you see the Susan that God sees. Well done, my friend!!!

Susan, It is not often that people are willing to be so open, honest, and real. Your transparency is so refreshing! You are such a great example of how a life surrendered to the Lord can be drastically changed. Thank you for continuing to tell His story of love and redemption. I'm so happy to know you! Love, Cerissa

I am so honored to have you as my friend. You have the strength of 100 women. I look forward to reading your posts and I have often shared your story with others, with tears in my eyes. You have worked very hard to get to this place in your life and I am humbled to now be a part of your life, in some small piece. I wish you the best in your travels, and can't wait to read the book!! xoxo Keri

Susan, I'm so glad that you are using your experience to help people. I could tell my kids all of the things you might tell them; but your experience gives that message a credibility I could never give it. It would have been easy for you to just close that chapter of your life, and never tell anyone; and it took a lot of courage for you to choose to share your story. I pray every blessing for your life, for your kids, and for your ministry.

Susan is an amazing woman and friend. There is so much to this woman. She has done so much for others that goes unknown to most. Outside of her inspirational stories or courage, strength, and passion for the Father, she has even managed to touch my life in a way many may not know. When I was in high school, I was homeless. Many people knew of my situation and Susan was one of the very few to offer me a home. I lived with Susan and her family on and off in high school, and was able to graduate with honors and attend college to become a professional pilot because of her act of kindness. She is truly an example of what I aspire to be: kind-hearted, strong-willed, loving, and God-fearing. I love you dearly Susan.

I love Susan so much and she has helped me through so much that words can't even describe it. Reading my story on this blog was kind of scary because I am not very open to everyone about my past. I see how powerful it can be though. I pray that God will use me like he has Susan!
KEEP IT UP SUSAN! You have to Reveal it ,to Heal it!!

I think a verbal witness to the Gospel is not helpful or effective unless we are embodying it in a concrete, corporate way. That's YOU, Susan. You are pouring out your life in compassion and service. Thank you.
