What People are Saying

"Susan DeFace Washington is the real deal. She is one of the most powerful, heartwarming, spirit filled speakers we have been blessed to hear. Women of all ages were  blessed by her testimony and her message of hope, forgiveness and God's redeeming love for all people no matter the circumstances in your past or present situation.  We have had many speakers for our Women's Events at First Baptist Church Carrollton and  I can honestly say Susan ranks as one of the most outstanding speakers we have had."

- Beverly Anderson, Women's Ministry Coorinator for First Baptist Church of Carrollton

"I have practiced criminal law for over twenty years, as both a prosecutor and defense attorney, and I have witnessed up-close the devastating consequences of drug addiction. Prison has a way of getting your attention, and yet, I have seen many disingenuous and counterfeit “jailhouse conversions” in desperate attempts to game the system and receive leniency. I can assure you, there is nothing fake or phony about Susan and her relationship with, and devotion to, Jesus Christ.

Through faith and perseverance, she has found transforming freedom and undeniable peace and purpose. Susan is the real deal and she possesses a compelling life story and inspiring testimony of God’s unconditional love, saving grace and redemptive power."

- Joe Shearin, Criminal Defense Attorney

We recently had Susan DeFace Washington come and speak at our monthly ladies group at our church. After speaking with Susan to learn more about her story, I couldn’t wait to have her present to our ladies.

When the day finally came, Susan brought her support team, Power Point, and an infectious spirit. Susan was very open and willing to share her story. Her transparency gave us a glimpse into her world that began with pain, lies, and sadness but ends in the victory and joy that can only come from having a relationship with our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ.

Her story communicated so many things in such a short time. Her story communicates the power of hope, forgiveness, and how nothing we can do will separate us from the love of Jesus.

From Pompons to Prison

Hosea 2:15  I will make the Valley of Achor (Trouble) a door of hope and expectation for her.

As I look back on my life, the good and the bad, I can now see God everywhere. His hand was always on my life even when I didn’t know HIM or recognize his protection.

My life is full of many tragic sorrows some that were out of my control and others that were a consequence of my bad choices. It is amazing to look back and see how God protected me.

I praise my Savior because I surely did not deserve his protection. But he loved me and never gave up. I am so thankful to Him that I feel I have been led to write and share my testimony, which brings glory to God.

He has restored me and taught me what is truly important in this life.  He gently admonishes me and shows me the error in my thinking. Our thoughts are so important, and the origins of our thoughts are essential to know.

There is an enemy in this world ready to devour and ruin our lives. All he wants is to steal our peace. We must be on our guard and in constant communication with Jesus to prevent that from happening. If we take our eyes off Jesus it is so easy to slip.

My prayer for you is to have an intimate relationship with Jesus and understand that this relationship will bring you all that you have been longing for. For years I tried to fill the empty hole within me with drugs, alcohol, material possessions, and many other destructive behaviors. These worked for a while but then they took over my life and brought about destruction.

ONLY BY THE GRACE OF GOD I WAS NOT DESTROYED, I came close but He has restored my life. I will share my life in hopes that it will help you.

God is the way and the truth; John 8:32 “ And you shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free.”

The truth has certainly set me free. For years I hid behind the walls I had built up to protect myself. too scared to share who I really was. The fear of judgment and rejection paralyzed me until I had the most amazing encounter with God, finally surrendering all to him. He gave me the courage to step out in faith and to become open and transparent about my past. I stepped out of the dark into marvelous light and have been running towards that light ever since. You too can be freed from anything that has you in bondage. There is ALWAYS hope.

I pray that God will speak to you through my story; to be honest it is HIS story through me. I am so thankful for my freedom.

Ephesians 5:8 At one time you were in the dark. But now you are in the light because of what the Lord has done. Live like children of the light.

Matthew 5:16 "In the same way, let your light shine in front of others. Then they will see the good things you do. And they will praise your Father who is in heaven.
